Types of Credentials

Below is an explanation of the different credentials that are available to you through post-secondary education. This is simply a copy of the notes that we created together in class:
Diploma – Certification in a course.

- Depends on the course (usually about 1-2 years)

Associate Degree- 2 years of college.

- Stepping stone to university

Degree - By a college or university.

- Take about 4 years.

Apprenticeship – 4-5 years to get to journeyman status.

- Do not need formal post-secondary.

- For trades

Master’s degree- Advance your skills in a certain field.

- 2 years to complete after the bachelors degree.

Doctorate – Highest level of academic degree.

-Almost any subject area.

-about 4 years to complete.
